Course Overview
This online self-paced course is for health professionals providing clinical support during intrauterine device insertion.
Please note this course is not a pre-requisite or substitute for IUD insertion training. If you are a doctor or nurse practitioner interested in becoming an IUD inserter, please register for the IUD Inserter Course and the Copper IUD Inserter Course.
Course Content
- Exploring different types of IUD's
- Pre-Insertion consultation
- Equipment set up, IUD insertion and after care
- Support during IUD insertion, including how to manage
- Managing emergency situations and vasovagal episodes
- Post-insertion consultation and follow up

Entry Requirements / Eligibility
This course is open to doctors, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, enrolled nurses and midwives.
Training may be considered for other health care professionals, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners.
